BootB (non boring :) training about
icons for your Solutions

Many of you asked us about the BootB system of flagging your Solutions using different icons.

So… here you are! Sorry, for not explaining it before.
Do read this post carefully and do not hesitate to ask questions!

1st icon (the only one that you will see for sure)

Once you’ve published your Solution, both the Brand and you can see it. It appears like this:

The first line shows the number of your Solution (in this example “#1″ means that it was the 1st one posted). The second line shows the title of your Solution (in this example - “Welcome!”). The third line shows the date (day.month.year) and time when you posted your Solution.

Please note that the Brand doesn’t know if the Solution comes from an agency from New York or from a freelancer in New Delhi. In the BootB Pitches only talent counts (and the fame counts nothing :)

2nd, 3rd and 4th icons

In order to provide you a quick feedback about your Solutions and to help Brands to find the best creativity on the planet, BootB has designed the “keep-trash-ban” system. We strongly recommend all Brands to use it, but the Brand may skip this step and select directly the winner (not good, but freedom is a value in the BootB Republic :)

How does the “keep-trash-ban” system work?

If the Brand considers your Solution as a good one and wants to keep it for the final choice, the Brand will use the “keep” button. In this case, your Solution will look the following way flagged with the “thumbs up” icon:

In case the Brand thinks that your Solution won’t work for sure (i.e. because it doesn’t fit the Brief, or it’s not completed, or just because the Brand doesn’t like it) the “trash” button will be used. The Brand will not have your Solution in the list anymore and you will see the “thumbs down” icon next to it:

There is one more option for the Brand just in case (very unlikely, we hope) the Solution is rude or offensive (there is no moderation in the BootB Republic). The Brand can choose to “ban” its author. This action will block any new Solutions from this particular Creator. The icon that will appear next to such Solution will look like this:

If the Deadline of the Pitch has already come and there is still no icon on your Solution - don’t worry! It means that the Brand decided not to use the “keep-trash-ban” system but to look through all submitted Solutions and then to announce the Winner.

5th icon

In case your Solution is chosen by the Brand as the Winning one you will see this magenta icon, showing your avatar and your nickname. Exactly like this:

That’s the sign that you are the winner of a worldwide pitch. That’s the only icon we wish you to see! :)

Lucky u Mami! I got both thumb-up and down and I understood what did it meant. I wonder why sometimes Brands send their feedback so late. I mean, if I got the thumb-down and I really care about that pitch, I can develop another creative solution in order to win. But if the Brand sends me the feedback when the deadline is near (or even already come) what can I do?? Z.

and what about “no icon”?
as i sent you an email few months ago, there are no icon selected. and creatives could think that the brands never check their solutions. we spend time working on the solution, so would be nice the brand to do the same and place an icon about the desicion

Grazie

BootB

to ghs and to neopsiche

The system described in this post is working since the very launch of BootB in January 2008. We strongly recommend to all Brands to use the system, explaining them the importance of feedback. Anyway the system is not obligatory.

If the Pitch is “closed” and there is no sign on your Solution still, it means that the Brand just chose the Winner without sorting the list of all Solutions published to the Pitch.

But be sure that your Solution was seen! Brands really want to choose the best possible idea, so they are very careful in order not to miss even one!

Thanks to you and to all other creators who sent us questions and feedback about the system. We’re thinking now to change the system in order to give you better feedback.

GIGISHAMBLES

Mago-di-Oz

Ehi GIGISHAMBLES, perche’ ti arrabbi?

Can you guys add a small text box so the brand can also choose whether he would like to give us some answer/feedback. Cause in the process if they like the concept/style but still thinks it can have some improvements to do on it they may want to give us some directions in order to receive a more completed/finished job.

mimma

to mimma: usually it depends on the task given in the Brief. If you are asked to develop an idea - only idea matters! If you are asked to develop a design - in this case the visual is in the first place!

to blackchakra: Check “Solutions” category of the Blog! :)
There are 6 posts with the Winning or short-listed Solutions.

It means that your Solution is in the short-list of good ones. The Brand can decide to buy additional idea (on top of the Winning one) and in this case they will choose among “kept” Solutions.

to AlvinoDesign:

But what is the reason for Brand to start a Pitch on BootB if he is not going to go through all possible Solutions received?

by BootB
January 25th, 2010

AlvinoDesign

What is the reason for BootB not to provide a simple feedback once the Brand go through attachments?
To answer your question, belive me: the Brand could see the first solution applied the first day and be sure that is the perfect one. Who apply the last day could not receive the same attention.
Best regards

Your Creative Solution “GROM” to the Pitch “Icona GROM” called by Grom is successfully published”. Ciao!!!!

BootB

Hi there, sorry for the delayed reply!

To pOml:Once you have published your Solution you cannot bring any modifications to it - we are working on giving you a bit more flexibility in our future releases. In order to check if files were successfully attached to your Solution go to your blackboard, click the “Solutions” tab of the corresponding Pitch and review published proposal.

To comunicarearte: great to have you with us!

To Rusty77: First, best of luck! We’re looking forward to hearing about you participating to many more Pitches.
Second, let us explain you how things work. The email you have received is an automatic notification informing you about the successful submission of your Solution and does not imply a Thumbs Up icon.
Here is how and when you will see this icon:
- when reviewing any Solutions published in response to its Pitch, a Brand has the possibility to mark/rank Solutions by using Keep/Trash/Ban system explained in the blog post above.
- if the Brand likes your Solution and wants to remember it for later review, when selecting the winner, he will push the “Keep” button.
- as soon as that happens the “Thumbs Up” icon will be visible on your blackboard (next to your Solution in the “Solutions” tab of the corresponding Pitch).

Hope this helps!
Keep up with the good work :)

Salve a Tutti.
Grazie e Buon Lavoro.

May 30th, 2010

BootB

Hi mgpwr!

1. As explained above (with screenshots and all :), when the Brand uses the Keep/Trash/Ban system the corresponding icons (Thumbs up/Thumbs down/No entry sign will appear right next to your Solution(s) on your Blackborad.

2. Nothing happens - it means you’re full of creativity and it means you have more chances to win :) You will see all the proposals you sent in response to all Pitches in the Solutions Tab coresponsing to each Pitch available on your Blackboard.

Hi cienpies,

I hope the answer doesn’t arrive to late - sorry for the delay!
Currently, submitted Solutions cannot be edited and/or deleted by their Creators. In case you forgot to attach files or you realized there was a mistake in your Solution, you can submit it again and specify in the Solution description that this Solution comes to substitute the previous one (provide the Solution number as well, available on your Blackboard).

Hope this helps, all the best!
